Radenthein has 7.000 inhabitants, and can be found in the Northern part of Carinthia, close to the Lake Millstättersee and the mountains of the Nockberge.
The discovery of magnesit in 1908 was very important for the development of the town in the younger history. The „Austro American Magnesit Company“ was found and caused a durable growth of population, which is still continuing today.
Radenthein had their football club in the first league of the Austrian championship 3 times: 1967/68, 1970/71 and 1973/74 in association with Villach.
