Neuhofen/Ybbs

Filed under: Lower Austria — admin @ 1:14 pm

Neuhofen/Ybbs is the birthplace of Austria.

The village of 2.600 inhabitants is located on the banks of the Ybbs river.

In a document of the year 996, the name “Ostarrichi” (Austria) appeared for the first time. Ostarrichi was the name of the place of todays Neuhofen, including some fields around the settlement. The precious document can be viewed in the new Ostarrichi-Kulturhof in Neuhofen/Ybbs.
