Heidenreichstein

Filed under: Lower Austria — admin @ 7:13 am

Heidenreichstein is located in the north of Lower Austria.

The history of the town is connected with the Wasserschloss (water castle) in the centre of Heidenreichstein, which was mentioned the first time in 1205.

Heidenreichstein has 5.000 inhabitants. Visitors of Heidenreichstein are excited about the moor around the town which is turned to the nature park “Heidenreichsteiner Moor”. The museum about the moor called “house of moors”, offers informations about the evolution of a moor as well as its fauna & flora.

The traditional narrow-gauge railway trough the Waldviertel region, also makes a stop in Heidenreichstein. This ride will take you back to the time of the turn of the nostalgic 20th century. Outside of the town you can find the adventure park called “Anderswelt”, or the restaurant in the former Czech presidents arrow plane called “Magic Jet”.
