Lienz

Lienz is located in the centre of East Tirol, and provides an important junction since ancient time between Carinthia and South Tirol.

At the end of the 12th century, the Gorizians built the fortress “Lienz” with city wall and moat in the form of todays market place.

Today Lienz is a beautiful town with 12.500 inhabitants, wonderful houses in the centre, an interesting history, and with a cultured townscape.
